Hi! I’m Anastasia Gotsis. I was officially diagnosed with PMDD in 2025, though I’ve felt its impact since switching hormonal birth control in 2016. PMDD sits in a medical gray zone—it looks like a mental health disorder, yet treatment often requires OBGYN oversight—which made getting help complicated.
As a highly sensitive person (HSP) with childhood trauma, I learned from Dr. Elaine Aron’s research that people like me are far more likely to experience anxiety, depression, and intense physiological stress responses. My HPA axis is especially reactive, and with a family history of addiction, stress hits my system harder and faster.
I’ve worked with an LCSW, psychiatrist, PCP, and OBGYN, taken a leave from my corporate job, and read widely—from Beyond the Pill to Good Energy and The Highly Sensitive Person. But my biggest breakthrough came from using AI tools like ChatGPT to track my cycle and help me interpret the signals my body sends me.

Three years into this process, I’ve learned that my resilience depends on lowering my stress load and supporting my body: realistic anti-inflammatory and low-histamine nutrition, simple relaxation practices, 10-minute morning walks, better sleep, and gentle, consistent movement. Nothing extreme—just small, supportive habits.
Today, I use what I’ve learned to better understand my body, regulate my nervous system, and connect with other women navigating PMDD. My goal is simple: tune into what my body is telling me and make my life work with my sensitivity instead of against it.
